For over 20 years, the Alumni Scholarship Golf Classic has been a source of vital financial support for more than 400 Stony Brook University students. On June 30, the event marked its 23rd anniversary at the Nissequogue Golf Club in St. James, New York, with 100 golfers participating.

The scholarships funded by this event help students succeed academically and prepare for their future careers. The financial aid is an investment in education that positively impacts the Stony Brook community.

Samuel E. Katsaros, a scholarship recipient majoring in business management, expressed his gratitude: “Scholarships opened a world for me beyond the classroom walls,” he said. “The support empowered me to turn my academic insights into real-world ventures, shaping my future in the most dynamic way.”

This year’s golf outing not only raised essential funds but also served as a networking opportunity for alumni and friends who gathered to reminisce about their time on campus.

Frank C. Barile, chair of the scholarship golf committee and vice president for engagement strategy of the Alumni Association Board executive committee, commented on the ongoing generosity of alumni: “I’m elated to see that year after year, the generosity of our alumni base continues to make this a great event supporting the university and our current students.”
