Andrew Garbarino addresses DHS oversight and highlights new housing legislation

Rep. Andrew Garbarino, who represents New York’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on congressional oversight, energy policy, and housing legislation through a series of posts on his official Twitter account this week.

On February 8, Garbarino emphasized Congress’s oversight responsibilities regarding the Department of Homeland Security. He wrote, “Congress has a responsibility to conduct oversight to ensure DHS can accomplish its core mission. I look forward to this week’s House Homeland Security Committee hearing with ICE, CBP, and USCIS leadership.”

The following day, Garbarino expressed gratitude after addressing the American Gas Association Board of Directors. On February 9 he posted, “Thank you to the American Gas Association Board of Directors for the opportunity to speak this past week. For Long Island families, energy policy is about keeping the heat on, costs down, and communities secure. @aga_naturalgas”

On February 11, Garbarino highlighted recent legislative action in the House related to housing supply and regulatory reform. He stated, “This week, the House passed the Housing for the 21st Century Act. Thanks to the hard work of @RepFrenchHill , @USRepMikeFlood , and my fellow @FinancialCmte Members, this legislation is a practical step towards increasing housing supply, cutting red tape, and helping bring down”

Garbarino has represented New York’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Peter King in Congress. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he served in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2020. Born in Sayville in 1984 and currently residing in Bayport at age 38, Garbarino holds a BA from George Washington University and a JD from Hofstra University.
