Rep. Andrew Garbarino, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 2nd district and Co-Chair of the Congressional Zoo & Aquarium Caucus, recently used his social media platform to highlight meetings with leaders in wildlife conservation, honor educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, and recognize firefighters on National Firefighters Day.
On May 1, Garbarino posted about a meeting with representatives from several major zoological institutions: “Glad to meet with leaders from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, the Bronx Zoo, and the New York Aquarium. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Zoo & Aquarium Caucus, I’ll keep supporting conservation, education, and efforts to protect wildlife for future generations.”
During Teacher Appreciation Week on May 4, Garbarino expressed gratitude toward local educators: “During Teacher Appreciation Week, we thank the educators who shape the next generation through hard work, patience, and dedication. Long Island is stronger because of our teachers, and we are grateful for all they do.”
On May 5—National Firefighters Day—he recognized firefighters nationwide and remembered those lost on September 11th: “Today, on National Firefighters Day, we recognize the brave firefighters across the country who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. Garbarino has represented New York’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Peter King. Before joining Congress he served in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2020. Born in Sayville in 1984 and currently residing in Bayport at age 38, Garbarino holds a BA from George Washington University and a JD from Hofstra University.
