Rep. Andrew Garbarino, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 2nd district since 2021, announced via social media the approval of expanded staffing for the World Trade Center Health Program and highlighted his support for community banking on Long Island.

On April 16, 2026, Garbarino posted: “The World Trade Center Health Program has now been approved to fully staff up to 120 positions, adding 37 critical roles that will directly support the responders and survivors who rely on this care every day. After raising these concerns and pushing for answers, this is real”. In a subsequent post on the same day, he added: “I was proud to join @RepLaLota in this effort. More staff means better access to care and stronger support for those still living with the health impacts of that day. This is about making sure those who answered the call on September 11th get the care they have earned.”

Two days later, on April 18, Garbarino addressed local economic issues following a meeting with banking leaders: “Good conversation with @Nasdaq community banking leaders this week. Community banks are critical to small businesses and local economies on Long Island. We need policies that support their growth, not hold them back.”

Andrew Garbarino succeeded Peter King in Congress in 2021 after serving in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2020. Born in Sayville in 1984 and currently residing in Bayport, Garbarino holds degrees from George Washington University (BA) and Hofstra University (JD).
