Assemblyman Jarett Gandolfo (R,C-Sayville) has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators (NYIACSL) scholarships. The program offers two awards: the Senator James D. Conte Memorial Academic Scholarship and the Senator John J. Marchi Memorial Athletic Scholarship, each valued at $3,000.

The scholarships are available to high school seniors and college students living in districts represented by an active conference member. Applicants do not need to have Italian heritage to qualify. Those interested can submit their materials through the NYIACSL online application form before the deadline on March 16, 2026.

“I’m proud to share this meaningful opportunity for our community’s high school seniors and college students,” said Gandolfo. “These scholarships not only provide financial relief as students embark on or continue their college journey but also recognize academic achievement, community involvement and dedication. I encourage all eligible applicants to consider applying.”

Recipients will be notified directly by their Assembly or Senate member and are encouraged to attend the annual scholarship awards ceremony held in Albany during Italian-American Day celebrations.

Gandolfo has a background in public service, supporting local municipalities and nonprofits, as described in his official biography. He was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2020 and represents parts of Suffolk County. His focus includes strengthening the local economy, supporting businesses and law enforcement, and engaging in community development initiatives according to his official New York State Assembly website. Gandolfo holds degrees in criminal justice from SUNY Albany and public administration from Villanova University.
