The Town of Brookhaven and the Suffolk County Veterans Services Agency held their second annual Veterans Resource Fair on October 6 at Brookhaven Town Hall. The event brought together twenty organizations that provide a range of programs and services for veterans.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Daniel J. Panico commented on the importance of the fair, stating, “This fair is an important opportunity to honor our veterans by connecting them with the services, support, and community resources they’ve earned through their service to our nation.”
Town Clerk Kevin J. LaValle highlighted the event’s format, saying, “It was incredible to see this resource fair in action, where veterans can meet face-to-face with representatives from multiple organizations and learn about a variety of essential programs, all under one roof.”
First District Councilmember Jonathan Kornreich noted, “The Veterans Resource Fair fosters collaboration between our veterans and local organizations, providing a vital bridge for them to remain active and thriving in our local communities.”
Sixth District Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig added, “This was an event with a purpose to help our local veterans and I want to thank the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency for partnering with the town to hold this important event.”
Participating organizations included the Brookhaven Town Veterans Services Division, Suffolk County Veteran Services Agency, AMVETS Post 48, Catholic War Veterans Post 1897, VFW Post 3054, ACN, America’s VetDogs, Clear Captions, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc., Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project, Legal Services of Long Island (formerly Nassau Suffolk Law Services), Long Island Blue Star Moms NY Chapter 6, Long Island State Veterans Home, Paws of War, Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management, Suffolk County Community College Veterans Resource Center, Suffolk Federal Credit Union, United Service Workers Local 355, veteran and artist John Melillo, and Youth Enrichment Services.
