Supervisor Daniel J. Panico has shared the outcomes of Brookhaven Town’s 2025 INTERFACE Prom Gown Program, managed by the Department of General Services Youth Bureau. This initiative assisted over 160 high school students in Brookhaven Town by providing them with prom gowns, shoes, and accessories.
“Beyond dresses, shoes, and accessories, the Youth Bureau’s Prom Gown Program fosters confidence, inclusion, and celebration by ensuring financial barriers don’t prevent students from experiencing their prom,” stated Supervisor Panico. “This helps boost self-esteem and creates lasting memories, benefiting both students and their families.”
The program addresses the high costs associated with prom season by offering young women gowns and accessories at no cost. These items are theirs to keep. The program targets high school students who might otherwise miss out on their prom due to financial limitations. Most of the gowns collected are new and provided free of charge while maintaining strict confidentiality for all participants.
INTERFACE is a collaboration between individuals, corporate partners, and the Town of Brookhaven aimed at supporting residents in need. It offers goods and services to address social issues through combined efforts leveraging individual creativity and corporate resources alongside town initiatives. The INTERFACE Program also raises educational awareness among community groups and colleges about volunteering opportunities.
