Acclaimed jazz vocalist and composer Chiara Izzi will perform with her quartet at the Avram Theater at Stony Brook Southampton on January 29 as part of The Jazz Loft @ Southampton Concert Series. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The program will highlight the musical connections between Brazil and Italy during the 1960s and 1970s. It will include works by Brazilian artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dorival Caymmi, and Djavan, along with Italian samba songs that resulted from collaborations with Toquinho, Vinicius de Moraes, and other Italian musicians. Izzi will also present original compositions influenced by Brazilian music.

Izzi is a winner of the Montreux Jazz Festival Vocal Competition and was personally recognized by Quincy Jones. She has performed internationally at venues like the Kennedy Center and various jazz festivals. She sings in English, Italian, and Portuguese.

According to the announcement, “Together with her quartet, Izzi creates a refined and immersive concert experience, one that celebrates music as a living bridge between cultures, languages, and generations.”

Ticket prices are $36 for general admission. Stony Brook University faculty, staff, alumni, and seniors can purchase tickets for $33. Student tickets are available for $18.

The concert series is organized in collaboration with The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook and curated by its founder Thomas Manuel, who serves as Stony Brook University Endowed Artist in Residence. The series aims to celebrate creativity and history within jazz music through varied performances.

More information about the event can be found on the Stony Brook Southampton website.
