Congressman Nick LaLota, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 1st District since 2023, recently took to social media to share various updates and opinions on current issues.
On June 10, 2025, Congressman LaLota announced the winner of the NY-1 Congressional Art Competition through a tweet. “Congrats to Kerry Yeung of Half Hollow Hills East—winner of the NY-1 Congressional Art Competition! Her tribute to Sir Nicholas Winton is a powerful reminder that one person’s courage can fight antisemitism and inspire others.”
Later that day, he expressed concerns about government spending in another tweet, stating, “Wasting taxpayer dollars—at home or abroad—isn’t just bad policy. It’s a slap in the face to hardworking Americans.” This comment reflects his stance on fiscal responsibility and prudent use of taxpayer funds.
In a subsequent post, LaLota highlighted his commitment to veterans’ affairs following a meeting with Doug Collins, Secretary of Veterans Affairs. He noted, “I recently met with @SecVetAffairs Doug Collins to reaffirm our commitment to Veterans. The House GOP’s MilCon/VA bill boosts funding by $5B—to deliver better care, fewer barriers, and real results for those who served.”
Nick LaLota was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville. He succeeded Lee Zeldin as the representative for New York’s 1st District.
