Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets reflecting on local defense industry support, military service in his community, and U.S. national security interests in Greenland.

Later that day, he reflected on the sacrifices made by Long Islanders after September 11th and paid tribute to Technical Sergeant Dashan J. Briggs: “After 9/11, so many Long Islanders answered the call to serve—and some never made it home. One such hero was TSgt. Dashan J. Briggs of Port Jefferson Station and the 106th Rescue Wing, who gave his life at just 30 in the Jolly 51 crash in Iraq. I was honored to attend the https://t.co/Tnpx5XENNM”.

On January 21, LaLota commented on geopolitical issues involving Greenland: “Greenland has tremendous strategic value to America’s national security, and China has made clear its desire to become a so-called “near-Arctic” nation with greater influence in the region. Despite China’s ambitions, I was pleased to hear President Trump take the use of force off”.
