Supervisor Dan Panico, Councilwoman Jane Bonner, and other local officials attended a menorah lighting event in Coram on December 17. The gathering took place at the historic Davis Town Meeting House and was organized by the Coram Civic Association with support from the Davis Town Meeting House Society and the Chabad House.
The ceremony, originally planned for December 14 to coincide with the first day of Hanukkah, was postponed due to snow. Despite this delay, community members came together for the Festival of Lights.
Rabbi Mendy Goldberg led the event, which included lighting the menorah, reciting traditional blessings, and singing songs related to Hanukkah. Afterward, attendees were offered latkes and jelly donuts. The Davis Town Meeting House Society provided hot cocoa, hot cider, and goodie bags.
“Hanukkah is a celebration of light, hope, and perseverance, and tonight’s ceremony truly reflected those values,” said Councilwoman Jane Bonner. “It was an honor to celebrate with so many neighbors and community leaders.”
The event was free and open to residents of all ages as an opportunity for unity and connection within the community.
