Councilwoman Jane Bonner presented a proclamation to Frank Rivera on April 9 in the lobby of Brookhaven Town Hall to recognize Sarcoidosis Awareness Month.
Rivera, who has lived with sarcoidosis for years, is known for his advocacy work supporting those affected by the disease and other rare illnesses. His efforts have focused on raising awareness, assisting patients and families, and encouraging greater understanding of sarcoidosis.
“Frank Rivera has turned his personal journey into a powerful force for good,” said Councilwoman Bonner. “His advocacy is helping to bring much needed attention to sarcoidosis and support to those who need it most.”
Sarcoidosis Awareness Month is observed each April and aims to highlight the importance of education, advocacy, and continued research related to this complex disease.
The Brookhaven Fire Department contributes to community safety through volunteer efforts in the Brookhaven Fire District according to the official website.
