Each year, the New York State Senate holds its Veterans Hall of Fame Ceremony to honor distinguished veterans from across the state. This event acknowledges their service to the nation and their ongoing contributions to the community, particularly in supporting fellow veterans.
This year’s ceremony recognized Dan Guida as one of these notable individuals. First Lieutenant Dan Guida was inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame for the 1st Senate District. A Vietnam veteran, Lt. Guida has been acknowledged for his military service and his dedication to the veteran community on Long Island.
Lt. Guida was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and quickly advanced through the ranks, attending Officer Candidate School and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in early 1967. During his time in Vietnam, he led search and destroy missions in I Corps during significant battles such as the 1968 TET Counteroffensive, Pineapple Forest, and Burlington Trail. He later served as Assistant Commandant and Chief Security Officer at Americal Division Headquarters and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
Upon returning home, Lt. Guida earned his CPA designation and became a respected community leader. As Quartermaster of VFW Post 6249 in Rocky Point, he organizes fundraising events that support veterans and organizations like Tunnel to Towers. Additionally, he volunteers at the Long Island State Veterans Home and speaks at local schools about the Vietnam War.
Senator Anthony Palumbo expressed congratulations: “Congratulations to Dan and all our veterans inducted into the 2025 Veterans Hall of Fame.” He emphasized that their lives are dedicated to service both in uniform and beyond.
