The Floyd Academy held its annual mid-year graduation ceremony, recognizing 22 students who completed their high school diploma requirements and became the first members of the Class of 2026. This group marks the largest number of mid-year graduates in the academy’s history. The event was attended by family, friends, faculty, staff, administration, Board of Education members, and mentorship partners from Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Long Island and Stony Brook University.

John DeBenedetto, principal of Floyd Academy, addressed the graduates during the ceremony. “We are extremely proud of you and are happy to share this moment with you,” said DeBenedetto. “On behalf of the faculty and staff of Floyd Academy and the William Floyd School District, I wish for each of you, a life that will be richer and more rewarding beyond your wildest dreams.”

DeBenedetto also shared personal highlights about each graduate and discussed their plans after graduation. Many students intend to enlist in the military, join the workforce or pursue further education at colleges or trade schools in fields such as architecture, criminal justice, education, ultrasound technology, nursing, medical assisting, HVAC, psychology and other areas.

The district serves over 9,400 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and has been recognized for contributions in scholarships and community service.
