Every year, Memorial Day serves as a time to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in defense of the United States. The day is dedicated to remembering the courage and dedication of these individuals, whose actions protect the rights and freedoms enjoyed by Americans.
Senator Mario R. Mattera expressed his hope that people will take time to pay tribute to fallen heroes and acknowledge their families. “Their selfless acts of courage protect the rights and freedoms we enjoy as Americans, and their memories will forever be in our hearts and minds,” he stated.
For this year’s observance, Senator Mattera’s office has created a special page listing parades and ceremonies taking place in the area. This resource aims to help community members find events where they can commemorate those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Events include:
– The Town of Huntington Memorial Day Ceremony on Sunday, May 25th at 10:00 am at Huntington Town Hall.
– The Halesite Memorial Service on Monday, May 26th at 10:30 am at Halesite Fire Department.
– The American Legion Huntington Post 360 Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th at 12:00 pm, starting from the municipal parking lot behind Rust & Gold.
– The Smithtown Fire Department Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26th at 12:00 pm, beginning at Singer Lane and proceeding westbound down Main Street to Town Hall.
Senator Mattera concluded with gratitude towards service members: “Thank you for all of our brave service men and women and may God bless the United States of America.”
