Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing tax policy, veterans’ funding, and foreign policy positions of fellow lawmakers.

On January 6, 2026, LaLota wrote: “American tax dollars should work for American workers — not subsidize companies tied to the Chinese Communist Party. That’s why I support the Working Families Tax Cut rules that block U.S. tax credits from going to companies owned, controlled, or influenced by China.”

Later that day, he announced new funding for veterans’ programs: “Billions in new VA funding I helped pass are now signed into law— delivering real support for our Veterans, including right here on Long Island:
• $2.3B more for VA medical care
• $2.7B more for mental health programs
• $3.4B more for suicide prevention
• $12.5M more for the https://t.co/VSCkyqmiRT”
(January 6, 2026).

On January 7, 2026, LaLota commented on Senator Schumer’s stance regarding U.S. policy toward Venezuela: “Senator Schumer’s yardstick for this Administration keeps changing. In 2020, he slammed President Trump for not acting to hold Maduro accountable. In 2026, Schumer can’t say enough about why he thinks it never should have happened.”

Nick LaLota has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin in representing New York’s 1st district. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota has been active in highlighting issues related to economic policy and veterans’ affairs during his tenure.
