Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing environmental stewardship, veterans’ assistance, and U.S. foreign policy.
On July 23, 2025, LaLota shared his engagement with local stakeholders regarding the protection of Long Island Sound: “Another great meeting with the Long Island Sound Citizens Advisory Committee—discussing how we can protect the Sound, preserve Plum Island, and advance my bipartisan LI Sound Stewardship & Restoration Act. Grateful for their dedication to our environment!”
The following day, on July 24, 2025, LaLota turned his attention to supporting military veterans in his district: “If you or a loved one is a Veteran and needs help with the VA, don’t hesitate to reach out—my team and I are here to assist however we can. “
Later that same day, he commented on U.S. policy toward Iran: “Anyone who passed 11th grade history knows that appeasing regimes bent on genocide and war never ends well. Washington must keep that in mind when dealing with Iran.”
Nick LaLota has served as the representative for New York’s 1st District since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota continues to focus on both local environmental issues and broader national concerns through his congressional role.
