Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on his social media account, including health care affordability, support for law enforcement, and recognition of local student achievements.

On January 16, 2026, LaLota commented on health care policy: “Health care shouldn’t be partisan; it should be affordable. Yet in the 15+ years since Democrats passed Obamacare with only a single Republican vote, families have paid the price — premiums rising 60% faster than inflation, nearly one in three claims denied, and insurers making”.

Later that day, he attended an event for Suffolk County Sheriff Errol Toulon. In a post dated January 16, 2026, LaLota stated: “Honored to give remarks at Sheriff Errol Toulon’s inauguration today. Strong leadership for Suffolk County’s Deputy Sheriffs and Corrections Officers has never been more important. In Congress, I’m backing Law Enforcement with action, not rhetoric — including $1.2M advanced this”.

On January 17, 2026, LaLota congratulated students from his district: “Congratulations to the NY-01 students named semifinalists in the 2026 Regeneron Science Talent Search! That 33 Long Island students reached this stage shows the incredible talent our region is developing. I’m proud to support smart investments in STEM that strengthen national”.

Nick LaLota began serving as U.S. Representative for New York’s 1st District in 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin. He was born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville.
