Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of policy issues on his social media account on January 22, 2026.

In a post published at 20:36 UTC, LaLota commented on labor standards and employment responsibility: “A prime contractor that directly controls job-site safety and labor is fundamentally different from a franchisor that doesn’t control day-to-day employment—and the joint-employer standard should reflect that.”

Later the same evening, at 21:03 UTC, LaLota spoke out about an incident involving a Minnesota church: “Those who trespassed on a Minnesota church to harass congregants are not protected by the First Amendment and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Americans should feel safe in their houses of worship, which must never be used for intimidation or political”

By 23:45 UTC, LaLota provided an update on legislative developments in Congress regarding federal funding and appropriations: “No Shutdown… No CR… Instead, the House just passed all 12 appropriations bills! These bills deliver real results for Long Island and the country, including $155m for the Electron Ion Collider at BNL, $40m for the Long Island Sound Program, and $27m for community projects—from”

Nick LaLota has represented New York’s 1st District since replacing Lee Zeldin in Congress in 2023. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville, LaLota has emphasized issues ranging from workplace regulation to religious freedom and federal investment in local projects.
