Congressman Nick LaLota, representing New York’s 1st District since 2023, has recently addressed various issues through his social media posts. LaLota, who replaced former U.S. Congress member Lee Zeldin and resides in Amityville, took to the platform to express his views on matters concerning state governance and national remembrance.
On June 5, 2025, Congressman LaLota criticized New York’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) error rate for the year 2023. “New York posted a 12.68% SNAP error rate in 2023—14th worst in the nation. That’s unacceptable,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of good governance and respect for taxpayer dollars by saying these errors “waste money and hurt the hungry kids who truly need help.”
The following day, June 6, 2025, LaLota paid tribute to those involved in World War II’s Normandy landings. “Today we honor the Greatest Generation—heroes of Normandy who changed history,” he wrote, drawing inspiration from their courage as a Navy veteran himself.
Later that same day, LaLota commented on tax policy changes affecting his constituents regarding the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction cap introduced in 2017. He noted that “the House’s $40k deal is a result of a hard-fought compromise and makes 92% of my constituents whole.” Furthermore, he expressed his firm stance against any dilution of this agreement by stating if “the Senate waters it down by a dollar,” he would oppose the proposed budget bill.
Nick LaLota was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and is currently aged 44.
