Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed issues ranging from tax relief for seniors to military upgrades and his political philosophy in a series of social media posts.
On August 21, 2025, LaLota commented on the cost of living for seniors on Long Island, stating: “Life on Long Island is costly for seniors. The quadrupled SALT deduction delivers real tax relief for homeowners on fixed incomes. Now it’s Albany’s turn to step up and help lower the cost of living.”
Later that day, he shared updates regarding military developments and support for service members: “I got updates on deployments, base upgrades & the 106th’s new HH-60W “Jolly Green II” helicopters—5 delivered, 1 more coming this spring. The FY2026 NDAA includes a 3.8% pay raise for our troops, and I’ll proudly support it.” This post referenced ongoing enhancements at local military bases and legislative measures aimed at increasing troop compensation.
On August 22, LaLota outlined his political approach by posting: “I’m a commonsense conservative who believes in a strong border & fiscal responsibility, and I’ll work with anyone to make Long Island & America stronger.”
Nick LaLota has served as the representative for New York’s 1st district since replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville, LaLota continues to focus his legislative efforts on local economic issues and national defense priorities.
