Congressman Nick LaLota, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 1st District since 2023, recently shared his views on several key issues through a series of tweets. LaLota succeeded Lee Zeldin and has been active in addressing concerns relevant to his constituents.

On July 5, 2025, LaLota criticized the use of congestion fees levied on suburban motorists, stating “You’re using the $2k per year you’re taking from suburban motorists to subsidize a system not used by the very people who you’re charging the congestion fee.” He called for improvements to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) by eliminating waste and collecting uncollected fares rather than relying on his constituents as a financial resource.

Later that day, he expressed support for environmental legislation with a tweet about introducing the bipartisan ESTUARIES Act. LaLota stated “Proud to help introduce the bipartisan ESTUARIES Act to extend the National Estuary Program through 2031.” The act aims to protect areas like Long Island Sound while supporting clean water initiatives, resilient coasts, and local employment opportunities.

On July 6, 2025, LaLota reflected on international relations with a focus on U.S.-Israel ties and nuclear non-proliferation efforts. He tweeted “Not long ago, both parties stood with Israel and against a nuclear Iran.” He emphasized the need for bipartisan unity to ensure safety for America and its allies.

Nick LaLota was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville. At age 44, he continues to represent New York’s interests at the national level.
