Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of policy issues and advocacy efforts in a series of posts on April 29 and April 30, 2026.
On April 29, LaLota highlighted concerns about religious representation for veterans: “Nearly 1 in 5 of our nation’s Veterans are Catholic. Later that day, he commented on federal cooperation with immigration authorities: “The overwhelming majority of Americans, liberal, conservative, and independent, agree that government should cooperate with federal immigration officials to apprehend and deport violent criminal illegal immigrants. On April 30, LaLota described his meeting with labor representatives: “Great meeting with members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, and after talking with them, I’m feeling like things are moving up. As a pro-labor Republican, I’m proud to cosponsor the Faster Labor Contracts Act and co-lead the Know Your Labor Rights Act,”.
Nick LaLota has served as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 1st District since replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. He was born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville.
