Congressman Nick LaLota, representing New York’s 1st District since 2023, recently shared several statements on social media addressing key issues. His posts reflect his positions on fiscal policies and international relations.
On June 16, 2025, Congressman LaLota addressed the State and Local Tax (SALT) cap issue. He noted that “3,300+ constituents replied to my survey—77% said a $30K SALT cap wasn’t enough.” He further stated that he managed to secure a $40K cap in the House bill, which would provide up to $8K in relief for 92% of local families. He emphasized his commitment by saying, “If the Senate lowers it, I’ll vote no. Long Islanders come first.”
The following day, June 17, 2025, Congressman LaLota commented on a statement made by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. He quoted Netanyahu’s words: “I understand ‘America First.’ I don’t understand ‘America Dead,’” describing it as a powerful statement and expressing agreement with the Prime Minister.
Later on June 17th, LaLota criticized government spending in a tweet where he argued that Washington should be more judicious with taxpayer money. He stated: “Washington must treat taxpayer dollars with more respect.” Specifically criticizing the allocation of “$42M to ‘social and behavior change’ programs in Uganda,” labeling it as wasteful spending.
Nick LaLota is currently serving in the U.S. Congress after replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. Born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and now residing in Amityville at age 44, he continues to represent New York’s interests at the federal level.
