Congressman Nick LaLota, representing New York’s 1st district since 2023, has been vocal on various issues via social media. Born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville, LaLota continues to engage with constituents on pressing matters.
On June 15, 2025, Congressman LaLota addressed concerns regarding fiscal responsibility within the federal government. He stated “The longer we ignore waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, the worse our deficit gets. For the sake of our children, we need to act now.”
The following day, June 16, 2025, he criticized Governor Kathy Hochul’s commuter tax policy. He described it as “a cash grab to cover up the MTA’s failures—on the backs of hardworking suburban families.” LaLota expressed his commitment to opposing this measure alongside prominent figures such as President Trump and members of the NY/NJ Delegation.
Later that same day, Congressman LaLota commented on legislative negotiations concerning State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions. He noted “The Senate doesn’t have the votes for $10k SALT in the House. And if they’re not sold on the House’s $40k compromise…” warning about potential outcomes if agreements are not reached before key legislation expires.
Nick LaLota replaced Lee Zeldin as a U.S Congress member from New York’s 1st District in 2023.
