Congressman Nick LaLota, who has represented New York’s 1st District since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin, shared his legislative activities and opinions through a series of tweets on May 16, 2025. The posts reflect his commitment to law enforcement support, fiscal fairness for New Yorkers, and federal investment in local research.
On May 16, Congressman LaLota expressed his support for law enforcement during National Police Week. He tweeted: “On Long Island, we back the blue. During National Police Week, I proudly voted for three key bills to support our brave Law Enforcement Officers.”
Later that day, LaLota addressed misconceptions about state subsidies and fiscal responsibility between red and blue states. He stated: “The myth that ‘fiscally responsible’ red states subsidize blue states through SALT is flat-out false. Fact: New York gets back $0.91 for every $1 we send to DC. Missouri gets $1.60. Louisiana? $1.78.” He argued that “SALT relief isn’t a handout,” but rather “basic fairness for hardworking New Yorkers.”
In another tweet posted on the same day, Congressman LaLota highlighted federal funding for local innovation initiatives. He mentioned: “Under an approps bill I voted for in March, @stonybrooku is receiving $666,910 from @NSF for a new research study.” This post underscored his support for federal investment driving innovation on Long Island.
Nick LaLota was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville at age 44.
