Nick LaLota discusses public safety funding and environmental initiatives for Long Island

Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has highlighted recent federal investments and policy approaches on public safety and environmental protection through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.

On February 10, 2026, LaLota stated, “With my help, Congress is investing more in public safety — for America and Long Island.” The same day, he addressed local law enforcement policies by posting, “Long Island’s approach works: reject sanctuary policies, support cooperation between local and federal Law Enforcement, and allow ICE access to jails so enforcement targets the worst offenders safely. The focus should stay on removing dangerous criminals while advancing”.

The following day, February 11, LaLota emphasized environmental concerns related to water quality in the region. He wrote, “Protecting Long Island’s water quality means protecting our health, environment, and local economy. I was proud to help secure federal investments supporting the Long Island Sound, estuaries, beach protection, and coastal research, delivering real results that safeguard our”.

Nick LaLota has served as the congressional representative for New York’s 1st District since replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota has focused much of his legislative messaging on issues affecting both national policy and his Long Island constituency.
