Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted his bipartisan efforts and focus on suburban values through a series of posts on social media.
On July 18, 2025, LaLota stated, “In Congress, I work across the aisle to get things done—but I never lose sight of the commonsense suburban values that matter to the families I serve.”
Later that day, he discussed recent changes to federal tax policy: “The new SALT cap I negotiated puts $3,000 back in the pocket of a family earning $200K and paying $12K in property taxes—just like families on Whitetail Lane in Commack. The One Big Bill delivers real middle-class relief. A win for Long Island!” The reference to SALT refers to the State and Local Tax deduction cap.
On July 19, 2025, LaLota added: “I fought for—and won—a $40K SALT cap for the next 5 years. Now Albany has 5 years to get its fiscal house in order and make Long Island more affordable.”
Nick LaLota has served as a member of Congress since replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. He was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville. As representative for New York’s 1st District since 2023, LaLota has emphasized policies affecting suburban communities and middle-class taxpayers.
