Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on recent legislative actions and local funding initiatives through his social media posts in early February 2026.

On February 2, LaLota advocated for election reforms, stating, “The SAVE Act strengthens election integrity by requiring voter ID and more frequent removal of deceased voters from the rolls, among other commonsense safeguards. Let’s get it done.”

The following day, he highlighted new federal support for law enforcement in Suffolk County. On February 3, LaLota posted, “Proud to have secured $5.25 million to modernize police vehicles for the Suffolk County Police Department, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, and local departments across Suffolk County, including Southold, Southampton, Northport, Riverhead, Sag Harbor, Asharoken, Quogue, Head”.

Later that evening on February 3, he commented on broader legislative developments: “Big wins for America and Suffolk County in the funding bill the House just passed—and President Trump signed moments ago. The bill delivers a 3.8% pay raise for our Troops and brings total community project funding to $27.1 million, projects I worked on directly with local”.

Nick LaLota has served as the U.S. Representative for New York’s 1st District since replacing Lee Zeldin in 2023. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota has focused his tenure on both national legislation and securing resources for his district.
