Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on social media between August 9 and August 10, 2025, addressing federal tax policy, military honors, and historical milestones for the U.S. Armed Forces.
On August 9, LaLota highlighted efforts to secure greater State and Local Tax (SALT) relief for his constituents: “For three years, my NY GOP colleagues and I fought relentlessly for more SALT relief. We made it clear in every tax policy meeting: our constituents deserve better. Proud to have delivered a $40,000 SALT deduction for five years! @RepStefanik @RepGarbarino @RepMikeLawler”.
The following day, LaLota commented on the naming of a new Navy destroyer after Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter: “One of the Navy’s newest destroyers, DDG 148, will honor Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter, a Marine who threw himself on a grenade to save a fellow Marine. Nick LaLota has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin as representative for New York’s 1st district. He was born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville.
