Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates on social media regarding local sports achievements and federal funding initiatives in Suffolk County.

On April 16, 2026, LaLota posted about two professional baseball players from Suffolk County: “Pretty cool to watch Suffolk County natives Anthony Kay and Steven Matz share the same mound this afternoon as the Chicago White Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays. Two Ward Melville grads, two big league lefties, and one more reminder that Long Island knows how to produce top”.

The following day, April 17, he highlighted a recent funding accomplishment: “I secured $4.3M in federal funding to put new police vehicles on the streets across Suffolk County and I will always fight to ensure our officers have the tools they need to protect our communities.”

On April 18, LaLota referenced commentary by CNN’s Fareed Zakaria while discussing his legislative priorities: “Don’t take my word for it. Even CNN’s Fareed Zakaria says it plainly: blue state governments promise more, cost more, and deliver less. In Washington, I am fighting for New Yorkers by quadrupling the SALT deduction and bringing home real funding for public safety, clean water,”.

Nick LaLota has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin as representative of New York’s 1st district. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota continues to focus on both community recognition and policy matters affecting his constituents.
