Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to comment on a range of legislative and international issues.
On August 16, 2025, LaLota promoted new tax relief measures, stating, “The Big Bill delivers pro-family tax relief. Along with the $40K SALT cap I fought for, it boosts the Child Tax Credit by expanding eligibility, restoring full refunds, & raising it to $2,200 per child, putting more money in parents’ pockets for groceries, childcare & their kids’”.
Later that day, LaLota addressed recent reports regarding hostages held by Hamas. He wrote on August 16, 2025: “The videos of two innocent hostages starved to near-death by Hamas are a chilling reminder of its pure evil. My heart breaks for their families. America must not look away—every one of the 50 hostages must be freed, and Hamas must face justice for its atrocities.”
On August 17, 2025, he commented on federal spending priorities with a critique of international business development funding: “If Uncle Sam has $98K to spend on business development, it should be in the United States, not making yogurt in Uganda.”
Nick LaLota began representing New York’s 1st congressional district in 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota has positioned himself as an advocate for local fiscal responsibility and family-focused policies.
