Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media reflecting on International Holocaust Remembrance Day and recent legislative achievements.
On January 27, 2026, LaLota marked the solemn anniversary by stating, “Today, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the memory of the six million Jews and countless others who were brutally murdered during the Holocaust. We also reaffirm our commitment to never forget, to educate future generations, and to stand against hatred in all”.
The following day, he acknowledged his participation in a panel discussion organized by the American Jewish Committee and Molloy University. In his post dated January 28, 2026, LaLota wrote: “Thank you to the American Jewish Committee and Molloy University for inviting me to a panel on Catholic–Jewish relations, marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 60th anniversary of Vatican II’s Nostra Aetate. We reflected on the enduring bond between our”.
Later that same day, LaLota highlighted his work on federal appropriations for his district. He stated: “Proud to deliver major budget wins for Suffolk County and across America. As the only New York Republican on the Appropriations Committee, I was able to fight for Long Island’s priorities and make sure our communities weren’t left behind.”
Nick LaLota has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 1st District since 2023 after succeeding Lee Zeldin. Born in Bay Shore in 1978 and currently residing in Amityville at age 44, LaLota is noted as the sole Republican from New York serving on the House Appropriations Committee.
