Congressman Nick LaLota, who represents New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 29, 2025, addressing recent legislative actions and policy positions.
In a post from the morning of July 29, LaLota wrote: “Don’t fall for the spin—the OBB doesn’t cut Medicaid for the vulnerable. However, it kicks illegal immigrants off and expects able-bodied adults to work.” The statement addresses concerns about potential changes to Medicaid under the OBB proposal.
Later that day, LaLota signaled support for bipartisan cooperation with another post: “Bipartisan consensus alert. Let’s do this https://t.co/O8wcthE8r1” The message highlights ongoing efforts to find common ground in Congress.
In an evening update, LaLota referenced legislative progress related to veterans’ health care: “In April, the House passed my bipartisan bill to study liver fluke cancer in Vietnam Vets. Now it’s the Senate’s turn to act and get our Vets the care and answers they earned. https://t.co/YBiNL8WwyX”
Nick LaLota has served as U.S. Representative for New York’s 1st District since 2023, succeeding Lee Zeldin. He was born in Bay Shore, New York in 1978 and currently resides in Amityville.
