Rep. Andrew Garbarino, who represents New York’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on social media addressing a range of issues including a fatal accident at LaGuardia Airport, his ongoing work with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and healthcare initiatives on Long Island.
On March 23, Garbarino expressed condolences for those affected by an aviation incident at LaGuardia Airport: “My thoughts are with the families of the two pilots who lost their lives, and with every passenger, crew member, and First Responder impacted by last night’s accident at LaGuardia. Grateful for the First Responders who were on scene right away and did what they do best in a” (March 23, 2026).
The following day, he addressed his commitment to national security as it relates to his home state: “As a lifelong New Yorker, the mission of @DHSgov is personal for me and my district. I look forward to working alongside Secretary Mullin to ensure DHS components have the tools, resources, and oversight needed to accomplish the department’s core mission, preserve the essential” (March 24, 2026).
On March 25, Garbarino reported on discussions regarding healthcare delivery in his district: “Good meeting with Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy and the @TheCHAUSA team. They’re doing critical work for Long Island families, and I appreciated the conversation on their priorities and how we can keep delivering for patients across NY-02.” (March 25, 2026).
Andrew Garbarino has represented New York’s 2nd congressional district since replacing Peter King in 2021. He previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2013 to 2020. Born in Sayville in 1984 and currently residing in Bayport at age 38, Garbarino holds degrees from George Washington University (BA) and Hofstra University (JD).
