State Senator Dean Murray recently hosted a roundtable focused on crime victims, joined by Senators Rob Rolison and Mario Mattera. The event included Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, Daryl Levy of the Nassau County District Attorney Major Offense Bureau, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina, Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, Charles (CJ) Hutter from the Suffolk County PBA, and Frank Arcuri from the Nassau County PBA. Representatives from victim support organizations such as The Crime Victims Center and L.I. Against Domestic Violence also participated.

The roundtable brought together lawmakers, advocates, service providers, law enforcement officials, crime victims, and their families to discuss challenges in the current system. According to organizers, the forum aimed to identify gaps in services for crime victims and explore policy reforms.

“This roundtable marks the first in a series to be held across New York State, all aimed at developing stronger legislation that ensures all victims receive the rights, support, and respect they deserve,” said participants.

The discussion is part of an ongoing effort to improve legislative protections and resources for those affected by crime in New York State.
