Guru Madhavan, a graduate of Stony Brook University with an MS earned in 2002 and a PhD, has been admitted as the first international honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom. This recognition follows his career in leadership, innovation, and philanthropy within engineering. Madhavan is one of 74 engineers and innovators elected to the academy in 2025.
Madhavan has played roles in national engineering initiatives and is known for mentoring students and supporting programs at Stony Brook University. His ongoing relationship with the university includes volunteer service and philanthropic contributions.
Andrew Singer, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science at Stony Brook University, stated: “As a valued alumnus and member of our Biomedical Engineering External Advisory Board, Guru continues to strengthen Stony Brook while earning global recognition as a Royal Academy fellow. His success exemplifies the excellence of our alumni and the enduring strength of the foundation he built here. We are deeply grateful for his support, which will inspire and empower our students for years to come.”
