Stony Brook Children’s Hospital organized its Annual Kids Health and Safety Expo at the Long Island Ducks Ballpark on June 18. The event featured interactive exhibits and activities, such as finger casting by Child Life, tick information from Infectious Diseases, and oral health education from Dentistry. Injury prevention experts shared water safety tips, while the nursing team provided sun safety education.

The first 1,000 children received a branded lunch box featuring the Ducks and Stony Brook Children’s logos. Stony Brook supported Island Harvest Food Bank by encouraging attendees to donate non-perishable items to ‘Stuff a Seawolf Bus,’ with participants entering for a chance to win Stony Brook merchandise.

Over 500 tickets were distributed to Stony Brook Children’s affiliates for them to enjoy the evening with their families. Dr. James Barsi from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery threw the ceremonial first pitch, followed by a home team victory for the L.I. Ducks.
