Twenty students from various academic fields at Stony Brook University will be honored with the Provost’s Award for Academic Excellence this year. This accolade is awarded annually to a select group of graduating seniors who have excelled academically in the classroom, as well as through research and creative activities or by contributing to a stronger academic community on campus.
Carl W. Lejuez, executive vice provost for academic affairs and provost, expressed his admiration for the awardees, stating, “I’m deeply impressed by each of these students and their consistent hard work and dedication to their studies.” He further highlighted the university’s status: “Stony Brook is the state’s top public university and a flagship not only because of our incredible faculty and research but also because our students are some of the best around.”
The Office of the Provost and the Division of Undergraduate Education are responsible for presenting this award. Rachelle Germana, senior associate provost for undergraduate education, commented on the pride felt by the institution: “Of course we’re proud of all of our graduates, and we are especially proud of students like these who have made such a difference on our campus and in our community.” She added her personal delight in recognizing these students as they prepare to graduate.
