Members of the Campus Beautification Committee (CBC) at Stony Brook University have installed plaques at two major artwork installations, marking the contributions of student artists and recognizing their impact on campus. The installations are located in the Melville Library Central Reading Room and the Health Sciences Library on East Campus.
The plaque installation ceremonies were attended by library staff and employees who played a role in bringing these projects to completion. According to those present, there was a sense of pride in displaying these artworks for both campus members and visitors.
David Ecker, a CBC member and founder of ART Tank, presented a plaque to Anika Griffing ’24, whose mural “For the Record” is featured in the Central Reading Room. Another project recognized was “United Dreams,” an origami display created by the Origami Club. This piece is notable as it marks the first CBC project on East Campus at the Health Sciences Library.
Both projects aim to enhance public spaces within university libraries and reflect ongoing efforts by students and staff to improve campus environments.
