Suffolk County Police recently converged onto Hemlock Park Elementary School in Bay Shore and were met with cheers from its students, especially when our police helicopter landed on their field.
Members from the department’s Emergency Service, Canine and Aviation Sections along with Highway Patrol interacted with students in grades K through 5. The students had the opportunity to learn about the different commands in the SCPD and what it takes to join the ranks of the department. The students had an opportunity to sit in police vehicles, hear the German commands our Canines receive and ask any question they had of the officers.
It was a great day for officers and students to meet and start building a lasting friendship.
