Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead) stood alongside her Assembly and Senate colleagues today to advocate for increased funding to support local road maintenance. The assemblywoman emphasized the need for more statewide funds to ensure proper upkeep of roads across New York.
"My hope is that an increase in the allotment from the budget will ensure that no road gets left behind," Giglio stated during the rally. She highlighted the importance of adequate funding to avoid compromising road safety amidst rising costs in the industry. Giglio pointed out, "Unfortunately, most industry experts say these prices will not be going down soon. As such, proper maintenance of asphalt pavement is becoming increasingly more important."
Giglio further stressed the necessity for a robust plan focused on sustainability and safety on roads, which she believes can only be achieved through additional funding. "A solid plan for sustainability and safety on roads requires additional funding, not the same as years past. The investment is worth it," Giglio concluded.
The assemblywoman's push for more funding aims to address the challenges faced by localities in maintaining their roads effectively. She believes that investing in road maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure in the state.
