Suffolk County residents who have participated in Suffolk County’s Tai Chi for Arthritis workshop will gather in Bay Shore on Saturday, April 27, 2024, to celebrate World Tai Chi Day. The event aims to showcase the skills acquired through the program, offering the public an opportunity to witness the benefits of this ancient and therapeutic art form firsthand.
"Tai Chi for Arthritis is an evidence-based, low impact exercise designed to develop muscular strength, flexibility, reduce joint pain and promote a relaxed body, mind, and spirit," stated the organizers of the event. The classes, based on Dr. Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis Program, are offered at no cost to Suffolk County residents throughout the year at local libraries and wellness centers.
The demonstration is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 27 from 9:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Northwell building located at 1933 Union Boulevard, Bay Shore. Those interested in attending the demonstration and learning more about Tai Chi can contact Linda at (631) 853-3187.
For individuals unable to attend the in-person classes, online Tai Chi for Health and Balance classes are available through Stony Brook Medicine at www.trauma.stonybrookmedicine.edu/falls_programs. Additionally, future in-person Tai Chi for Arthritis classes will be listed on the Suffolk County website for easy access.
