Each year, around October 31, institutions worldwide celebrate Dark Matter Day. The event invites the public to participate in both in-person and virtual activities that include talks and engaging events for all ages.
Dark Matter Day is an international outreach effort aimed at sharing knowledge about dark matter. It highlights what is known about this mysterious substance, the various experiments trying to uncover its secrets, and the importance of dedicating scientific resources to solving this cosmic puzzle.
The initiative is sponsored by the Interactions Collaboration, a global community of particle physics communication specialists. This group includes members from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory.
For those interested in attending a Dark Matter Day event in 2024, a list of locations can be found online. Organizations wishing to host their own event can also find more information on how to get involved.
Additionally, people can explore the topic further by listening to "Particle Mysteries: The Coldest Case," a podcast dedicated to discussing the search for dark matter. New episodes will be released throughout October.
