Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Juan Chuquimarca Guzman, a 20-year-old resident of Shelter Island. Guzman faces charges for promoting and possessing a sexual performance by a child. The charges stem from allegations that he uploaded videos and images of child sexual abuse to a cloud service.

District Attorney Tierney emphasized the gravity of such offenses, stating, "The exploitation of children is among the most serious crimes we prosecute. Uploading these materials encourages further violent sexual assaults of children." He added that those involved in these activities would face severe consequences and reiterated the commitment to protecting vulnerable community members alongside law enforcement partners.

The investigation began in August 2024 when the New York State Police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip concerned an individual allegedly uploading child sexual abuse material to a cloud service. Following this lead, investigators visited Guzman's home, where he consented to a download of his phone.
