Scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory are set to commemorate significant milestones in the field of physics with a symposium on November 22. The event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. at Berkner Hall and is designed to celebrate Nobel Prize-winning discoveries and explore future advancements in physics.
The symposium will highlight key scientific achievements, including the discovery of CP violation and the J/psi particle, which have significantly influenced research in physics. In addition, discussions will focus on current and forthcoming experiments aimed at enhancing our understanding of the universe. These experiments include work at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, Large Hadron Collider, BELLE-II at SuperKEKB, and the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment.
Participants attending either in person or virtually are required to register for the event. Those unable to attend physically can still participate by registering for virtual attendance.
As part of the program, refreshments will be available, and there will be a concluding toast celebrating past, present, and future achievements in discovery science.
The symposium also marks two important anniversaries: 60 years since the discovery of CP violation and 50 years since J/psi was discovered.
