Senator Mario R. Mattera is organizing a holiday donation drive to support families in need. His office, located at 180 East Main Street in Smithtown, is accepting donations of pajamas, toys, and food until December 20th during regular business hours.
"Together, we can make a meaningful impact and bring holiday cheer to those who most need it in our area," said Senator Mattera. He emphasized the importance of community involvement during the holidays and thanked those who contribute.
The office seeks new and unwrapped items for children aged 2 through 16, including toys, stuffed animals, and books. Donations will be distributed to children at local healthcare facilities such as St. Catherine of Siena Hospital and Northwell Health Dolan Family Health Center.
In collaboration with EJs PJs, led by Patricia Poggi and inspired by her sons Edward, Jeremy, and Patrick, the drive aims to provide new pajamas for young children, teens, and adults across the region. More details are available at ejspjs.org.
Additionally, Senator Mattera's office is conducting a food drive for local organizations like the Salvation Army of East Northport. They are collecting non-perishable items such as canned vegetables and instant mashed potatoes but cannot accept perishable goods or glass containers.
For questions about donations, individuals can call 631-361-2154 or email mattera@nysenate.gov.
