Rep. Nick LaLota from Suffolk County has voiced criticism against Governor Kathy Hochul's congestion pricing plan, stating it would negatively impact families in Long Island. In his statement, LaLota accused the governor of political maneuvering with the timing of the plan.

"Governor Hochul’s latest congestion pricing plan is a slap in the face to hardworking Long Islanders who already bear the heavy burden of New York’s high cost of living," said LaLota. He continued by describing the plan as "politics at its worst—delaying the plan before the election to dodge backlash, only to bring it back now in a blatant cash grab."

LaLota highlighted that residents in Long Island are subject to some of the highest taxes nationwide and argued that introducing an additional toll on daily commutes is unacceptable. He called for unity among Federal and State representatives from New York City suburbs, regardless of their political affiliations, to oppose what he termed an unfair policy affecting Long Island's families and businesses.
