Rep. Nick LaLota has announced his support for the passage of H.R. 9151, known as the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act. The bill, which passed with bipartisan support, aims to address trade abuses by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and safeguard American jobs.

LaLota stated, "The passage of the bipartisan Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act is a victory for American workers and businesses. For too long, the CCP has exploited our trade laws, undermining hardworking Americans." He emphasized that the legislation would provide tools to investigate and prosecute violations, thereby protecting domestic jobs and industries.

The act seeks to bolster the U.S. Department of Justice's ability to combat trade crimes through a dedicated task force within its Criminal Division. This initiative includes training law enforcement agencies at various levels and allows both criminal and civil enforcement actions to proceed concurrently. An annual report to Congress detailing efforts against trade-related crimes will also be required.

LaLota has consistently advocated for American workers since taking office. Earlier this year, he voted against a rule proposed by the Biden Administration that waived Buy American requirements for Electric Vehicle charging stations funded by taxpayer dollars.
