The storm that hit Long Island on August 18 and 19, 2024, caused severe flooding in Suffolk County. The heavy rainfall led to significant damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Many residents were displaced, facing financial challenges due to the disaster. In response, Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio has expressed her support for federal aid aimed at helping those affected by the floods.

Assemblywoman Giglio is collaborating with Rep. Nick LaLota and Sen. Anthony Palumbo to secure expanded Small Business Administration (SBA) benefits for homeowners, renters, businesses, and nonprofits impacted by the floods. "These resources couldn’t come at a more critical time," said Giglio. "I’ve seen firsthand how these floods have impacted our community, and I want everyone to know that help is available."

The SBA is offering low-interest loans for physical damages and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to assist businesses and nonprofits with financial recovery from the storm's impact. Affected individuals can apply online at sba.gov/disaster or contact the SBA Customer Service Center for assistance.

Giglio emphasized the importance of utilizing available resources: "Recovering from a disaster like this isn’t easy, but it’s not something you have to go through alone." Her office is ready to provide guidance and connect constituents with necessary federal and state resources.

For additional support, constituents can reach out to Assemblywoman Giglio’s office via phone or email.
